The ever present occupation.. A quiet breeze stirred the hot, early spring air, brushing the near-black coat of the she-wolf crouched nimbly among the sprouting leaves. Her senses acutely aware of the world around her, she stalked forward, all her mental concentration focussed on a single point in the universe; the rustling of something small and furry under a large patch of budding ferns. The rustling stopped. She pounced, and with all the dignity and grace of a cat, missed. She restrained the curse that leaped to her tongue and took off after the rabbit, her feet pounding on the forest floor. They dashed into an open clearing, her jaws snapping just inches from the rabbit's hind feet; but it was too late, the wretched creature was already safe down its hole. She didn't restrain the curse this time as she skidded to a halt, growling it out with great enthusiasm at the rabbit. Her stomach growled. She hadn't caught anything all morning, and was beginning to believe that her father was right about city life. She was to accustomed to frisking dumpsters.

{CHARLIE} Charlie had wandered far from the town of Williamsdale, his current residence, and into a forest teeming with life. Birds chirped, bees buzzed, and plants bloomed. He gazed around in amazement. Never before had he been in such a plant covered place, give or take a park or two. Charlie grinned, it felt so wonderful to be away from the noise and polluted air of the city. He needed to do this more often. Eyeing a petite trail that lead deeper into the green wonderland, the Dutch Shepherd debated on wether or not to follow the pathway. Well what do I have to loose? No one will miss me if I get lost anyway. He thought and with that he stepped onto the trail and headed north.
A growl echoed through the area as he passed a rotten fallen tree. Charlie stopped dead in his tracks with a unimpressed frown on his face."Mission accomplished T-fighter, you have managed to disturb the peace. Report to 'Can't you keep it down?!' base asap." His voice was low and fairly rough as he spoke. He rolled his eyes and continued on walking. The animal who made the sound was of no importance to him and he planned to keep it that way.

The she-dog's ears twitched at a quiet murmur in the woods. She halted, listening intently to the budding forest around her. There was little more than the general humming of bees and the swishing of new leaves in the sparse breeze; then she heard it, the padding of another canine's paws. She dropped into a crouch, a wicked plan forming in her mind as she followed the faint sound. She spotted the chocolate and cream Shepherd following a winding trail through the trees. A huge, evil grin spread on her lips as her green tipped tail flashed among the pale emerald leaves. She leaped from her hiding place, springing toward the Shepherd just as he passed, hoping to pin him under her weight. "I've got an enemy fighter, Red Leader!" She cackled deviously as she flew through the air.

CHARLIE The shepherd continued walking as he was oblivious to his odd stalker hidden among the forest foliage. He glanced up at the break in the canopy, the sun was directly up above. Noon time. His stomach growled; the last time he had eaten was yesterday morning. Charlie had never been an avid eater. He only ate what he needed and nothing more. Living in cities and small towns most of his life, Charlie was a scavenger and didn't know a thing about hunting. The chances of the Dutch canine catching some food here was slim to none. "It's not like you're gonna catch anything out here." Charlie mumbled to his stomach.
The breeze shifted direction and carried the scent of another canine into his nose. His one ear flattened against his head. No one followed Charlie and got away with it. No one. Playing it cool, he continued on walking. From what the humans and the more experienced dogs at Boot Camp had taught him, playing it cool was the best thing to do if you were being trailed. The Dutch shepherd non-chanlantly looked over his shoulder. He saw the flash of a tail among the leaves. Charlie anticipated a surprise attack. The best counter for a surprise attack, a quick burst of speed.
A smirk appeared on his face as, "I've an enemy fighter, Red Leader!",, rang in his good ear. Oh they were gonna get it. A mouth full of dirt. He chucked. Charlie didn't spare a second, he broke into a run and kicked up as much dirt and leaves as he could. His timing was off, though. The shepherd had narrowly missed being pounce on. He continued running along the path just to make sure he was far enough away while he looked over his shoulder and watched the dust clear from the air.

She let out a yelp of surprise as she slamed into the dirt, only having enough warning to flip over onto her back and roll to her feet. She let out a huff as she watched the Shepherd dart away along the trail. Idiot. She thought, and dashed after him, her paws light despite her empty stomach.

{CHARLIE} A large satisfied grin spread itself on Charlie's face. Oh the feel of partial victory. It was glorious. He turned his head to look forward as he saw his follower fall and roll to his or her feet. "Run, run as fast as you can. You will NEVER catch me 'cos I'm the gingerbread man!" The shepherd was booking it now. Dust flew everywhere as his paws slammed down on the ground and propelled him forward. Adrenaline coursed through his veins. He hadn't had this much action in months.

"Run, run as fast as you can. You will NEVER catch me 'cos I'm the gingerbread man!"Kemsin growled under her breath, the evil grin back on her maw. She pushed her muscles harder and faster, glorying in the hard run. She hadn't run like this since she was a puppy. She was fast, one of the fastest of the mutts in Jordon, and not many gave her a good run anymore because she had most likely whipped their butts as a pup. Her tongue lolled out, flapping in the air whistling by her ears. She was nothing more than a black and brown blurr as she shouted forward to the Sheperd, "Slow and steady does the trick!" She laughed, turning a corner easily and cutting the next one, strait through the bushes. Big mistake. the brush took her down instantly, entangling her legs and throwing her to the ground. She let out a yelp as she fell, slamming into the ground for a second time that day. Idiot. She thought, again. "You'd think that with the Swamp I'd know these things? Nooo." She scolded herself as she tried to detangle herself.

{CHARLIE}
The trail up ahead became more and more narrow and not to mention overgrown. Vines covered the trail and roots shot up from the ground. Charlie slowed as he didn't want to risk tripping or stumbling. Better to be careful than careless, no? "Slow and steady does the trick." He laughed heartily as he heard those words. "If you're trying to win a race that is!" The Dutchmen called back to his pursuer. To Charlie, this wasn't a race. Oh no. Not even close.
He threw his head to the side and saw no one behind him. Odd. The sound of rustling undergrowth and a body hitting the ground sounded in the dog's good ear." Well, well, tried to cut did you? Didn't your mother ever tell you cheaters never prosper?" Charlie slowed to a walking pace as he waited for the creature to untangle his or herself.

"Well, well, tried to cut did you? Didn't your mother ever tell you cheaters never prosper?"
Kemsin growled as she fought her way through the brush, strugglign to regain the relative clear ground of the narrow trail. "It's a forest." She snapped. "Not supposed to have rules!" She finished with a groan as she pulled her hind legs out of a particularly prickly and abrasive patch of thorns. She scrambled out onto the trail, spotting the Shepherd a few yards ahead of her. She trotted ahead, careful to watch where her paws landed among the thickly wound vines and roots. "Who are you, anyway?" She snapped, increasingly more jittery as the forest grew thicker and thicker around them. She wished she'd stayed in Jordon's swamps where she belonged. She could at least see the sky there, even if it was almost always overcast.

{CHARLIE}The shepherd looked over his shoulder again to see the creature, who he confirmed was a female, hop back on the trail. He hadn't noticed to green coloration of the female dog's leg and tip of her tail yet. "Everything has laws and rules even if they aren't written out." He replied coolly. "I'm just a stray, no one important. How 'bout you?" His one good ear flicked forward at the sound of rustling among the bushes. A fat squirrel darted out of the bush and up a tree.

"Nothing more than a stray, either. Except my father happens to be a nut." She said with a sigh, ignoring the squirrel and her growling stomach. She stepped casually over a root, careful not to catch her paws in it as she came up next to teh stranger's flank. "Call me Kemsin." She said as he came shoulder to should with him on the narrow trail.

{CHARLIE}As the dog whom called herself Kemsin walked parallel to him, Charlie noticed her green fur. He raised an eyebrow. He had never seen such a color present on a dog's coat. How odd. "Kemsin, do you mind me asking why your leg is green? I'm Charlie by the way." The trail began to give way to a small grassy clearing just a few yards ahead. "Finally a break in the trees."

"Kemsin, do you mind me asking why your leg is green? I'm Charlie by the way."
Kemsin frowned and glanced at her green fur. She'd never really considered it even noticeable. The budding green around them made her splashes of emerald seem drab and gray. "Nice to meet you Charlie." She said with a huff. "I don't really know, but I think I get it from my other parent. I've never met him, though." She finished, frowning. There, ahead of them in the trees she saw a flash of swaying green grass and blue sky. She nearly leaped out of her fur at the opportunity to be out of the claustrophobic trees. She scrambled gratefully out of the tangle of green.

{CHARLIE} The Dutch shepherd appreciated the soft, cool feel of grass beneath his paws as he stepped into the clearing. Charlie lowered his rump to the ground and let his tongue hang out his mouth. He quickly glanced up at the sky, a single white cloud was present among the vast expanse of blue. "Woah, woah wait. Both of your parents are guys?" He said, shocked. "Any idea how that happened?" A small chuckle escaped his mouth. "Maybe nature screwed up.."
A deep rumbling sound came from the shepherd's stomach. Boy he was hungry. He was nearing two days without food. It was amazing that he wasn't just skin and bones with the way he ate. Sure, his ribs were showing, but it wasn't that bad. "It's about time I got something to eat. I'll probably be heading back to Williamsdale soon." {Oh sh- it's CASINOS}Casinos watched the two from a distance. It seemed they hadn't noticed him yet. Hopefully they wouldn't notice him at all. Even if they did, he would just teleport back to his lab in the blink of an eye. The key that hung from his wolven neck glowed ever so faintly. He was just observing, for now.
He had arrived on Earth not so long ago with his 'failed experiment', Spin. God that kid was such an idiot. He could never do anything right. The alien huffed, why did I ever steal him in the first place? Useless.

"Maybe nature screwed up.." Kemsin snorted, slightly offended. "Don't ask me how it happened, my father won't spill a word." She said. She flopped down in the grass and rolled. The cool feeling of the blades against her fur felt good and dry compared to the sticky, wet mess she usually got with a good roll in Jordon. She flopped back onto her belly, front paws neatly crossed and another devious grin on her maw. "You live in Williamsdale?" She said, a twinkle in her eyes suggesting more behind the question. She didn't see the big green wolf hiding in the bushes, nor did she feel his watching gaze.
