What the hell are you two talking about...? Kemsin
Kemsin padded gratefully away from the chatter of awakening insects in the swamp, her paws meeting cool sand and salty air filling her nostrils as she stepped onto the beach. The sound was a surprisingly beautiful place, considering it lay in so close to the swamp's tangled, muddy mess. She had been and was still surprised that briers and other weeds hadn't choked the beach. The gentle rushing of the waves drowned out the sounds of wildlife behind her as she padded to the tide line, watched the water roll up the sand and recede back into the Atlantic. It was alarmingly quieter here, and she was glad to be free of the tumult of rising spring behind her.

I'm SPINning out of control!Water lapped at Spin's paws as he walked on the edge of the sandy shore of Pamico Sound beach. He watched the waves break, their white foamy tops bobbing to and fro in the vast expanse of salt water. Spin breathed in the salty air. "Ahhh." It had been ages since he the last time he was at a beach.
Spin had managed to sneak out of the lab. Casi, his master, would be furious once he discovered Spin was missing. Did Spin care? No, not one bit. He chuckled as an image of Casi's face contorted in anger appeared in his head.

What the hell are you two talking about...? Kemsin
Kemsin's sensitive ears caught the sound of another's paws on the beach, and for the second time that day she found herself turning to see a canine figure padding down the beach. She and the voice in her head let out a collective grown at the sight, both of them thinking that it was the annoying brute she kept running into. However, on closer inspection she could knew it wasn't him. She let out a sigh or relief and sat back on her haunches, waiting to be noticed.

I'm SPINning out of control!Spin squinted; a dark blurry figure stood out among the tan colored sand and blue ocean. He sighed, wishing his eyesight was better. His pace quickened to a trot, his mind wandering to why Casi had given him such bad eyesight.
As he neared the blur of a creature, it's outline became more defined and markings became more sharp. "Hmm, well now, what do we have here?" Spin said to himself in a hushed whisper.
From what Spin could see, the creature was a canine and had colors and markings similar to his own.

What the hell are you to talking about...? Kemsin
Kemsin watched the creature trot toward her, squinting at her as if he could see her. She glanced pointedly at the late evening sun, wondering at the canine's apparent bad eye sight. "You there!" She called, loud and clear, just in case it was hard of hearing as well. "What brings you to Sherwood this fine evening?" Oooh. Said the voice in her head as the other drew nearer, He's cute. Shut up. She snapped mentally.

I'm SPINning out of control!"You there! What brings you to Sherwood this fine evening?"
Spin winced whilst flattening his neon green ears agaisnt his head. The volume of the female's voice had been slightly irritating to his sensitive ears. Jeeze. Even though his eyesight was well below normal standards that didn't mean his hearing was as well. In fact, his hearing was far more developed and finely tuned than the regular canine's. "Nothing particular...Why would you want to know anyways?" Spin called back with a slight frown.

Kemsin shrugged, meandering up the beach to meat the canine. "Dunno. It's kind of my job." She said, plopping down in the sand in front of him.

I'm SPINning out of control!Spin raised an invisible eyebrow. "What do you mean 'your job'? Are you like the guard puppy of this area or something?" He said jokingly. He cast another glance out over the ocean. Smudged blurs dotted the horizon line. Storm clouds were building and gathering strength off shore; it would be raining soon. He sighed, it seemed like it always rained here.

What the hell are you two talking about...? Kemsin
Kemsin ignored the gathering clouds, far to used to it to care. "No." She said, and thought about it for a moment. "Well, I suppose so." She said with a sigh, standing up and padding back down to the shifting waves; splashing about in the cold water. Reaal smooth. The voice in her head mocked, she ignored it, shoving it to the subconscious part of her mind along with the storm clouds.

I'm SPINning out of control!Spinned watched as the female splashed about in the water. He had a sudden urge to join her. "So it's a yes then? You're the guard this place?" He quietly padded over next to her in the water, the cold seeping through his shaggy fur and chilling his very essence. "Brr. Doesn't the cold water bother you?"

"Doesn't the cold water bother you?"
She glanced at him in surprise. "It's cold?" She waded a little deeper, frowning. "Doesn't seem cold to me." She said, shrugging, and padded back out so that he wouldn't have to stand in the cold water. "I supposed I do guard this place." She said with a sigh and flopped down in the sand, watching the approaching storm with disdain. The voice in her head neglected to comment for once, but she already knew what it was going to say. She'd as good as inherited the swamp from her father, considering that his level of insanity was considered as good as death.

I'm SPINning out of control!Spin followed her out of the cold ocean. He wagged his tail, happy to have the chill in his body disappear. "I'm Spin by the way." He stepped onto the dry sand, a few feet from where the other canine was. He took a seat. "So have you always guarded this place or...?" Spin was just full of questions today, which was unusual for a creature such as himself.

"I'm Kemsin." She said. "And no, I haven't. It's kinda cheesy, but my father did before me. I guess it's a family tradition or something." She said, glancing up at the threatning sky again as droplets began to darken the white sand. "We'd better find some shelter, come on." She said with a florish of her green-tipped tail. There's a nice little cove not to far from here. The voice said in her head, Very, eh, romantic. It giggled. She couldn't help but roll her eyes as she padded into the swamp's extensive underbrush. She halted, waiting for Spin to catch up.

I'm SPINning out of control!Spin titled his head upward just in time to see the dark clouds over head and large drops of rain falling down. He flattened his ears and then looked at Kemsin who was already headed to shelter. Spin leaped to his feet and ran toward her. "Lead the way." He called, now only a few yards away from the other canine. Spin's coat was nearly soaked as the rain was pelting down on the landscape.

What the hell are you two talking about...? Kemsin
Kemsin padded through the brush. The thick reeds kept some of the rain off, and her water resistant fur kept off most of the rest. She wove her way through a group of cattails, her paws finding their way on their own as her subconscious took over. Traveling in the swamp to her was a no-brainer, she'd been almost everywhere there was to go in the swamp, except for it's most isolated and secret places. Her father was the only intelligent, if insane, creature that had ever seen some of those places. None the less, she picked her way with ease, her paws always landed on solid patches of grass; easily avoiding the sluggish water and mud. She emerged from the greenery into a small clearing containing a cave nestled under a large granite stone. She hurried under it, grateful to be out of the rain. She crouched down in the semi-darkness in the cave. The drip drip of a spring in the corner echoed in an odd contrast to the thunder of the rain outside.
